Fortunately, having an amazing wedding doesn’t to have mean spending more than you can comfortably afford.

<span

Read on to find out how you can have your wedding and reception at an ultra-cool place that will leave you with money left over for a honeymoon in Tahiti.

Las Vegas
Tired of pricing out the individual costs of photographers, musicians, officiants and florists? This wedding mecca has a different and inexpensive wedding ceremony package at every corner. A couple of incredible options include the Tropicana Hotel and Casino for poolside weddings, which starts at around $100, and the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef aquarium wedding, which starts under $1,200. For Vegas weddings, it’s especially important to call the venue and verify the maximum number of guests allowed at the ceremony.

City Park
Is there a beautiful city park in your neighborhood with enough rose bushes to rival the White House Rose Garden? You can probably rent it for your wedding ceremony for under $100. Since the flowers will be free of charge, you only need to rent chairs, buy your bridal bouquet and hire an officiant, a photographer and a musician. A harpist is a classic and economical choice for an outdoor wedding.

Approximate Cost for 50 Guest:

Park rental – $100

Chair rental – $250

Officiant – $350

Bouquet – $50

Harpist -$500

Photographer – $1,000

Tent (in case of rain) – $500

Approximate Total – $2,750

Your Favorite Coffee Shop
Does your day not officially start until you’ve had a frappuccino or your favorite Starbucks brew? Does your morning coffee destination happens to be one with an amazing patio? Ask the manager of your favorite coffee shop what it would cost to rent out the patio for your reception. It could be less than $100 - with a few treats thrown in! For your tall-, grande- or venti-sized celebration, you can theme your wedding party with frappuccinos and Starbucks pastries - which can be stacked on a silver platter you bring in to form an ultra-modern wedding cake. Plus, how unique is a spread of frappuccinos with fruit and cheese plates? As an added bonus, count on freezing leftovers for an extra month of goodies.

Approximate Cost for 50 Guest:

Patio rental – $100 (or less)

Pastries – $200 -$ 500 ($2 -5 each, 2 per person)

Drinks – $300 – $500 ($3 – 5 each, 2 per person)

Fruit/Cheese plates – $300 ($6 each, 1 per person)

Silver plate – $100

Music – Free from Starbuck’s speakers

Tips – $100 -$200 (20% for your favorite baristas)

Approximate Total – $1,000 – $1,600

Favorite Restaurant
You’ve been eating in the same Greek restaurant every weekend for the past two years. Why not have your wedding reception there?

Ask the manager what it would cost to rent a side room or the whole restaurant. Most likely, you’ll just pay for the food, which shouldn’t cost more than $10 to $30 a person for a buffet. Plus, you should get a discount since you’ve been a regular customer.

Remember to make sure tea and coffee are included in your pricing. If you serve wine, ask if you can bring your own. You can get a good-quality table wine for less than $10 a bottle, which contains four servings. If you have 50 guests, count on two drinks per person, which means you’ll need to purchase 25 bottles.

What about decorations? There are two inexpensive choices: If you’ve always loved the atmosphere at your favorite eatery, let your guests enjoy it, too. Otherwise, a single flower floating in a bowl is romantic and should be available from your local florist for less than $15 apiece. For 50 guests, you should need 10 centerpieces, one for each of the 8 guest tables plus two for the head table.

Approximate Cost for 50 Guest:

Buffet – $500 – $1,500

Wine – $250

Flowers – $150

CD Music – $60

Tips – $100 – $300 (20% for restaurant servers)

Approximate Total – $1,050 – $2,260

Apartment or Condominium Clubhouse
You live in a gorgeous community with an amazing clubhouse that has a huge foyer and designer Italian furniture with tons of seating - why not make use of it for your reception?
Talk to your rental or condominium community staff about when it is available, the price and how late it stays open. You may be able to use it from closing around 6 p.m. until midnight for less than $500. In that case, you will just have to pay for catering, flowers, wine and entertainment.

Approximate Cost for 50 Guest:

Room rental – $500

Catering – $1,250

Flowers – $150

Party band – $2,000

Tips – $250 (20% for caterers)

Approximate Total – $4,150

Perfection and Budgeting Is All in the Details
No matter which option you choose, sit down as a couple and create a checklist of everything you need and want for your wedding. You may find the wedding or reception you both want may be a little more or less expensive than the figures above. Also, don’t be squeamish about the costs of hiring a wedding consultant. An initial consultation where you get a list of vendors and help with budgeting should cost you less than $400.

By choosing a venue, photographer, flower arrangements and catering that fit your budget, you will make sure you are not making payments on a one-day event for years to come, which is sure to relieve some stress and leave you free to enjoy your day.

Related posts:

<a

Do you want to splurge on a band and spend less on your wardrobes? Knowing what’s important will help make the wedding spending decisions easier. Next, make a budget and consider a few cost-cutting ideas:

Go Off-Peak
The traditional “wedding season” is May through October. So it stands to reason by choosing a date between November and April you’ll have a better chance of saving money on a wide range of services – photographers, hotel ballrooms, catering, etc.

Be a “Budget Bride”
With wedding dresses running on average $1,075 (Brides.com American Wedding Study 2009), look around for less expensive alternatives to the high-price bridal boutiques. You may find a big bargain at a bridal outlet store, sample sale, upscale consignment store or even online through PreOwnedWeddingDresses.

Or get a quote from AnyWeddingDress!
We take images of designer wedding dresses and hand make your wedding dress based on your measurements. The average cost for a wedding dress at AnyWeddingDress.ca is $400 CAD and this includes global shipping in two weeks or less.

Other options include renting a bridal gown or looking for a dress made out of less-expensive fabrics.

Barter and Advertise
Do you have items or skills you could offer one of your wedding vendors? In this economy, business owners are more open than ever to bartering for goods and services. Consider asking vendors if they would be willing to knock some money off the price tag in exchange for some tasteful advertising in your program or on-site at the ceremony or reception.

Markdown the Décor
Replace expensive floral arrangements with much less expensive candles, photos, or similar centerpieces for reception tables.

Cut Back on Booze
Alcohol is one of the priciest items for any wedding reception. Opt to serve beer and wine (no hard liquor) instead.

If you’re comfortable with the notion, consider a cash bar so that guests are paying for their libations instead of sticking you with the tab. Check with the reception site to see if you can bring in your own alcoholic beverages – doing so can save you a bundle.

Watch the Clock
According to TheKnot.com wedding reception-related charges count for an average 46 per cent of a brides’ total budget. One way to lower those costs is to change the time of your ceremony and reception to brunch or early afternoon so that you can serve appetizers or a less expensive meal rather than a full-course dinner.

Wonder if your guests will be put off? Not likely. According to the AP-Brides.com poll nearly 60 per cent of those polled would rather be served chicken breast than caviar and a solid 20 per cent prefer “pigs in a blanket.”

Let Them Eat (Cup)cake
According to the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE), cupcakes are one of the top wedding trends for this summer. Not only are they typically less expensive than a full-size wedding cake but you can get them made to order from grocery stores and warehouse clubs (such as Sam’s Club, BJs or Costco).

“DIY”
Make your own invitations, create your own bridesmaids’ bouquets, do your own hair and makeup, or ask a relative to play the piano or sing at your service. Look for resources and relationships you already have to trim expenses.

Pass On the Wedding Favors
Your wedding was gift enough for family and friends. Don’t spend more money on candies or candles for them to take home.

And if all else fails take the ultimate wedding cost-cutting plunge and elope.

Daylight Savings
Wedding consultants all agree: Reception halls charge the highest fees for 7 p.m. on Saturday night. Any other time is guaranteed to be a bargain. Consider a Sunday brunch or, if late-night drinking is important, then go for Friday evening.

Greens Are Good
And how many of the guests know what kind of flowers are in season at any given time of year? “Stay with what’s in season, use more greens and fewer blooms,” advises Carol Koch Waldmann, a wedding consultant in Natick, Mass. “No one will ever notice.” Roses are always available, but brides should steer clear of floral-intensive holidays such as Mother’s Day, when high demand will drive up costs. Another flower tip from Regina Tate of Regina’s in Nederland, Texas: Don’t feel the need to adorn the church with fresh flowers for the ceremony. “People expect churches to be less ornate, and they’ll spend a lot more time at the reception,” she says.

Save a Tree
Waldmann, who estimates that most brides end up overshooting their initial budget by about 15%, encourages her clients to think twice before spending hundreds of dollars on a seven-piece hand-engraved invite. The invitation liner is completely unnecessary, she says, as are separate enclosure cards. Keeping it to a single sheet, she notes, saves on the costs of both paper and postage.

Related posts:

<a

There are so many styles… what is one to do? Below is cheat sheet of tips to think about before browsing for the perfect wedding dress. These will help make it a fun experience, not a nightmare!

Decide on a budget! You must set a budget before you even think about shopping. The worst thing is to fall in love with a gown that you can’t afford. If you are a tight money limit, David’s Bridal, Jessica McClintock, and Maggie Sottero are great options with a wide variety of price ranges. Feel free to check your local boutiques as well—they may have some great sale dresses!

Plan ahead! Before you start to browse, choose a wedding dress color, look and style. Magazines are a wonderful resource, and don’t be afraid to look online—it will really help you to get a better idea of what you want. When you go shopping and you don’t see what you want, leave asap!

Never go too small. Go one or two sizes up because the dress can always be taken in and hemmed. If you order a dress too small it could be a disaster. This involves expensive alterations and extra material.

Wear the your chosen undergarments and shoes. Spanx are great for hiding those unwanted areas, along with a pair of shoes that are the same height that you will be wearing with your dress.

Be true to yourself! This cannot be stressed enough! Don’t choose a dress because others are telling you to do so. Choose something that you absolutely love, and more importantly, are comfortable in. Let your personality shine!

<a

That much was clear at the Bridal Expo on Sunday, where, as has been the case in years past, vendors crammed into the Cocoanut Grove and tried to woo the eyes, taste buds and checkbooks of thousands of brides-to-be.

“Even with the economy, love, romance and the pursuit of happiness will never go out of style,” said Joyce Anderson, producer of the expo’s bridal fashion show.

But while the nation’s financial struggles may not stop people from saying “I do,” it does appear it is changing the way some businesses and couples take their vows.

“My family is helping out, but a lot of the things I did want, I had to cut down on,” said bride-to-be Lauren Keehn, 23, of Capitola.

The floor was packed — mostly with women, many wearing stickers that read “Bride.” Cocoanut Grove Director Sally Sessions said more than 1,500 people came last year and she expected as many by closing Sunday. Dozens of florists, caterers, entertainers, photographers, bakers and jewelers lined the walls of the Cocoanut Grove, luring their guests with promotional packages and taste testers.

“Now I’m full,” Keehn said. “I feel sick.”

The highlight of the day was the bridal fashion show, where 40 models showed dresses and tuxedoes from four different local stores.

Anderson said wedding dress styles are changing to meet the simpler needs of brides.

“People are looking at having smaller weddings,” she said, because they’re “getting married in judge’s chambers and on the steps of city hall.”

Rosa Silva, who owns Rosa’s Bridal in Seaside, said she came to the expo for the first time this year because sales are down.

“When I was younger I used to come here and watch all the models,” she said.

But Sessions said she is hoping for a good wedding year.

“The vendors that I’ve talked to are doing very good this year,” she said.

Related posts:

Shorten the guest list. This will cut down on the catering — probably one of the biggest expenses — as well as the cost of invitations and decor.

Only spend money that’s in the bank, and avoid relying on future gifts and income.

Budget realistically to avoid surprises.

Hire a wedding planner. Consider the value of a wedding planner’s connections and knowledge. Most offer consultation services as well as planning and day-of support.

Prioritize. Be it the flowers, the dress, the band or the location, manipulate your budget to incorporate the most important aspect.

Do it yourself. Take on whatever it is you do best, baking, handwriting invitations, creating personalized favours — not only will the wedding day be more personal, but it will cut down on expenses in the long run.

Create a website. Mailing invitations is still ideal but cutting down on the various inserts such as maps and even RSVP cards as well as offering additional information on a website is a great cost-saver.

Plan your honeymoon for later. By breaking up the largest expenses into smaller manageable pieces, the overall cost will seem less overwhelming.

Related posts:

<a

Brides are going to have what they want and they’re going to spend the money (on the wedding dress) … they are cutting costs where it won’t show,” said Joy McFarland, owner of Grissom’s Bridal. According to The Wedding Report, the average cost of a wedding dress fell about 5 percent last year. In the coming year, brides are expected to spend an average of $1,287 dollars on a wedding dress, up slightly from $1,266 in 2007.

<span

Drawings for more than 30 prizes and a grand prize valued at more than $1,000 will be held throughout the event.

Interesting enough what if you can save on your wedding dress and still get that dream wedding dress you always wanted?
