Well In 2008, over 20 celebrity couples walked down the aisle and headed into newlywed bliss. And although it’s the star breakups that give us plenty to gossip about, we’ll admit that we actually feel happy when couples in Hollywood—who we like—get married. Believe it or not, there are many more star duos out there who we think should add the titles of “Husband” and “Wife” to their resumes. Check out our top 10 hoped for weddings of 2009…
We love Jennifer Aniston. Few people don’t (except for you Angelina lovers out there). All we want is for Jen to be happy—and we know that all she wants is to be a wife and mom. If that means she’ll end up with John Mayer, then we’ll force ourselves to accept it. Hopefully she’ll be able to change John’s womanizing ways before she starts popping out little Johnifer babies.
Charlize and Stuart have been together forever in Hollywood terms—a whopping seven years. Having starred in three movies together, they’ve proved they can tackle both work and play as a duo. One of the most normal seeming couples since Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Hollywood needs more relationships like this one. Stuart has said, “I consider her my wife and she considers me her husband.” So, why not make it official?
We’ll admit that a relationship between Michelle Williams and Sofia Coppola’s ex, Spike Jonze, hasn’t been confirmed, but to us, the photos of them laughing together say it all. Michelle’s had a really hard year, with the tragic passing of Heath Ledger, the father of their daughter, Matilda. Michelle’s admitted that it’s been difficult for her, and that she misses Heath more every day. We want Michelle to be happy again, so why not make it happen by having Spike as a permanent fixture in her life?
Just do it already, will you? With six children, Brangelina’s already living The Brady Bunch life. Now they just need to set it in stone by signing on the dotted line of a marriage license. Imagine how much simpler it’ll be for their children (and we’re sure there will be many more of them soon), if their parents were actually married instead of boyfriend and girlfriend.
Rachel and Ryan have broken up twice now, and while we have a feeling they won’t be on again anytime soon, we can’t help but cross our fingers and hope for a reunion. Ever since we watched them kiss in The Notebook—you know the scene: it’s pouring rain and Noah says to Allie, “It wasn’t over. It still isn’t over,” and then gives her the most passionate kiss ever—we’ve swooned over this couple. That kiss makes our heart skip a beat. If they can do that in a movie, just imagine what happens behind closed doors.
Matthew McConaughey’s motto might be “Just keep livin’,” but we think he needs to start living as a husband to his babymama, Camila Alves. Matt’s known for being quite the ladies’ man—he’s dated Sandra Bullock, Kate Hudson and Penelope Cruz, to name a few—but now that he’s dad to son Levi, he needs to settle down with his supermodel girlfriend and make his one-woman status legit.
After splitting from Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein in March 2007, Mandy tried dating singers Greg Laswell and Ryan Adams, but apparently the DJ was still in her heart. Following a plane crash in September 2008 that injured DJ AM, Mandy rushed to his side to be with him. If the musical couple can make it through such a catastrophic event, we know they can make it through marriage.
Reese is the sweetheart we all aspire to be. Ever since her divorce from Ryan Philippe, we’ve been cheering for her to move on. We were overjoyed when she got serious with cutie and potential family man, Jake Gyllenhaal, but then were quickly dumbfounded when Reese said, “I don’t know how I feel about marriage… Obviously, I’m not far enough out of being married to think about doing it again.” Well, Reese, we say you make your New Year’s resolution to move as far away from your former marriage as possible, and move even closer to Jakey.
We were devastated to learn of Jimmy and Sarah’s breakup. One minute they were making videos about f*cking Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and the next they were parting ways. If it were any other couple, the affair videos would have been cause for worry, but everything this couple did was downright funny. Now that they’re trying to work things out, we want them to run down the aisle as quickly as possible so they forget to turn back.
Heather’s been through some tough times lately. First she and Richie Sambora divorced and he started to date her best friend, Denise Richards. Then she went to rehab for depression, and followed that up with an arrest for driving under the influence of prescription drugs. All the while, her former Melrose Place co-star held her hand. If they marry, they’ll not only make each other happy, but Melrose fans everywhere will cry from joy.
